Spend a little more time trying to make something of yourself and a little less time trying to impress people!

yourself

The first thing you need to know about life is that you don’t need to prove yourself to anyone but yourself. People are living pretentious life these days in the hope to impress they really don’t care much about. It is mainly because they want to feel good about themselves and subconsciously are looking for validation from others. You don’t need validation from anyone. You are good the way you are, and the people who matter won’t care and would neither try to change you. People who don’t care would always try to find shortcomings in you and would go out of the line to change you.

It is essential to know your worth because it is what helps in generating the self-love and self-respect. Don’t spend time doing things you don’t love to impress others. It is okay to say “NO,” and people these days have forgotten to use it more wisely. You should strive to improve yourself for you and not for others.

Don’t be hungry for validation

The first thing you need to do to make time to work on yourself is to stop looking for validation from others. The world of social media has made it an addiction these days to look out for validation from others. We, as a society, have become hungrier for validation than ever before because of the lack of self-love and lack of confidence. If you are confident about yourself and happy with what you have and where you are in life, it doesn’t matter what others think of you. People will think and judge anyways, and there is not much you can do to influence what they think of you. When you are happy, it shows. Don’t try to pretend what you’re not in the hope of impressing others because one day, that bubble will burst, and it would put you in a much worse position mentally than you can imagine.

Strive to improve yourself

We learn and mature as we grow, and it is a lifelong process. The life experiences we go through helps us learn a lot, and it is what makes us wiser. The failures we go through, the mistakes we make, and the challenges we face help us get into the right path. It is these collective experiences that help us improve ourselves with time. However, we should be focused on improving ourselves for our own reasons and benefits and not to look better in society or to impress others. It kills the purpose because you’re focused on others and not on you. Identify the shortcomings and weaknesses in you and try hard to eradicate those as you move ahead. It takes time, and it may be challenging, but it is possible with perseverance, practice, and determination.

Learn to let go

There would always be people who would pick your faults, taunt you for no reason, put roadblocks on your path, criticize you wrongfully, be harsh to you, insult you, and so on. You need to learn to let go of such negative people and move ahead. When you focus too much on these people and what they think or say about you, their negativity starts to rub off on you. It would make you think less of you and hit your self-confidence negatively. Don’t let that happen. It only happens when you give such people more importance than they deserve. Know your priorities, and the first priority in your life is you. Focus on yourself and your journey and your destination. Don’t let others decide your path because once you allow it to happen, you lose control of your life. Impress yourself with your hard work and achievements, and the rest will follow suit.
