Happiness is the core of living a good life. It comes primarily from feeling loved and cared for and being grateful for what you have and where you are in life. People always prioritize the wrong things in life that make them run after materialistic pleasure only to realize later that their definition of happiness is completely wrong. While materialistic pleasure and happiness do make you feel good for a while, it is momentarily. Our soul needs much more than worldly pleasure, and it is where love, gratitude, and kindness comes in. When you pay for the meal of a homeless person, how does it feel? When you buy a cup of coffee for someone sitting across the road on the footpath, how does it feel? When you leave a handsome tip for your waiter at a restaurant, how does it make you feel?

It is the definition of pure joy and happiness, and did you notice something about it? It doesn’t necessarily have to be related to getting something, but by giving. You feel true happiness by giving. These days we are living under tremendous societal pressure, and there are specific parameters you need to fulfill to gain respect and adulation from your fellow society members. Buying fancy cars, a lavish house, club membership, and so on, has become an essential part of those parameters. However, it is absolutely untrue that it is the only way you can achieve happiness in life.

Make your own definition of happiness

You have to make your own definition of happiness by identifying what appeals to your heart. We all have a different definition of happiness in life, and while some like to travel, others like to stay indoors and read, and many others are pursuing their dreams relentlessly to achieve their dreams. Whatever may be the case for you, don’t let others define the meaning of happiness for you. It is your life, and you reserve the right to live it the way you wish as long as it doesn’t interfere with the law of the land. You don’t always have to fit into society, and while the peer pressure maybe mounting to do that, feel the courage to break out and deny it. Do what you love and make you feel comfortable. Learn to say “NO,” and don’t stress yourself out for things that can be easily avoided.

Do what makes you happy

People these days are entangled in the net of responsibilities, duties, peer pressure, social pressure, family pressure, professional stress, and much more. It has made us let go of doing things that we love. We bury our passions, hobbies, dreams to do things that we don’t enjoy or love. We never even give our dreams or passion a try, at least most of us don’t. It is essential to do what makes you happy to live a life that makes you feel complete. We don’t always need millions in our bank; sometimes, all we need is a smile on our face and happiness in our hearts. It only comes when you’re surrounded by people you love while doing things that you enjoy. Your profession plays a crucial role in your life, and if you’re stuck into doing something that you don’t love, goes for a change, what’s stopping you?

Don’t burden yourself unnecessarily 

There is no reason to take unnecessary stress and burden yourself with negative emotions in life. We need to learn to forget and forgive and move on. Whether it is work or personal life, don’t let emotions take better off you. It is essential to know that your emotional balance defines your inner strength, as well. Don’t let your emotions take control of your life because it may force you to make wrong choices and add unnecessary stress in your life. Take control of your emotions, and get rid of the negativity in and around you. Stay positive, and don’t take life too seriously. Go with the flow, accept the reality, and eliminate things and people that are continuously adding stress in your life.
