We should have a holiday called space day where all the lights around the world shut off for the whole night to reduce light pollution so we can see the galaxy.

The world has become so materialistic and synthetic that we have forgotten about the true meaning of life and our Cosmos. Our connection with the universe has weakened massively, and it continues to deteriorate with time as we disrespect not only Mother Nature in various ways but also the Cosmos. It is crucial that we find a way to communicate with the Mother Nature as well as the Cosmos, and be thankful to it for the life we are blessed with is it’s giving only. Without the blessings of Cosmos, it is impossible for any living being to survive.

The pollution is one of the major culprits that has been devastating our green planet and hampering the overall quality of life of millions of animals and human beings. It is not only a contributor to global warming but causes a wide variety of health issues for animals and human being alike.

However, it is not the air pollution that has been the pain in the beck as light and sound pollution are equally playing its part in causing menace in their own respective ways. Imagine the beauty of Mother Earth millions of years back when there was no pollution, no electricity, and no artificial sound of cars, pieces of machinery, speakers, etc. I am not trying to say that the scientific advancement that humanity has achieved is bad in anyway, but just trying to say that we must put measures in place to not exploit Mother Nature, Earth, and Cosmos, beyond reasons.

cosmosOne of the ways to respect the cosmos and dive deep into the subject of the beauty of the universe is to turn off the light at one stipulated time across the globe. It would be a fine way to celebrate life naturally as it was meant to be and simply gaze at the vastness of this universe. It would not only be a sign of respect to nature and the universe, but it would also help in curbing light pollution, reduce carbon footprint massively, and help save considerable amount of power as well.

To pause once in a while to understand the true meaning of life can help give you answers to many questions that are maybe puzzling you for a while. There are many petty matters that pinch, distract, and disturb us in our day to day lives. When we gaze at how beautiful and vast our galaxy and universe is, the small things that matter us would vanish. It is because we realize how small we are, and the problems that are causing disruptions in our lives are too minuscule to matter.

With time, the matter of pollution continues to become a major one, and the governments across the globe are trying various ways to curb it. In fact, there is a conference and summits held every year where major nations come together to put forward proposals they believe can benefit in reducing carbon footprint and stop global warming. A huge chunk of carbon footprint left is due to the power generation needed to supply electricity for lights across the globe.

If we designate one day every year as a holiday and call it a space day to turn off the lights at nights and gaze at the beauty of the universe, it would help in curbing pollution greatly. You will be surprised to see how beautiful the sky would look when every light in your city is turned off. It is the kind of a beauty you wouldn’t have seen before as the city lights hamper in the clear view of the sky. Such a measure would also help spread awareness about pollution, and it is necessary to take such a measure today to ensure that future generations can grow up in a healthy and safe environment. Staying blind to the rising pollution and threats of global warming would have fatal consequences, and it the first thing that every adult should think about today.
